Thus, the Kingdom once again confirms its position as a preferred destination for many African football teams to play their qualifying matches, their stadiums being deemed non-compliant by the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the African Football Confederation (CAF).

Indeed, eight African teams have decided to organize their home matches in Morocco, given the high quality of sports infrastructure, logistical equipment and hotel facilities of international standards available in the Kingdom. These are Sierra Leone, the Central African Republic, Gambia, Sao Tome and Principe, Djibouti, Guinea, Chad and Seychelles.

During these qualifying matches, the Moroccan national team will face its Zambian counterpart (Group E), on the pitch of the Grand Stade d’Agadir, next Friday (8:00 p.m.).

The Oujda stadium of honor will host the match between the Central African Republic and Chad, for the 3rd day of group I, next Wednesday (5:00 p.m.).

On the same day, the Sierra Leone national team will face its Djiboutian counterpart, at the El Abdi stadium in El Jadida, during the 3rd day of group A (5:00 p.m.).

Gambia will face Seychelles on Saturday, June 8 at the Berkane municipal stadium, for group F (5:00 p.m.).

For the 4th day of Group H, the Sao Tome and Principe team will host its Liberian counterpart, on the pitch of the Oujda Stadium of Honor, on Sunday, June 9 from 2:00 p.m. On the same day, the El Abdi stadium in El Jadida will be, from 5:00 p.m., the scene of the match between Djibouti and Ethiopia (Group A/4th day).

The El Abdi stadium in El Jadida will also host the match between Guinea and Mozambique (Group G) on Monday, June 10 (8:00 p.m.).

International matches played in Moroccan stadiums will continue on Tuesday, June 11, with the Chadian national team’s match against its counterpart from the Comoros (Group I) at the Oujda stadium of honor (5:00 p.m.) and the match between Seychelles and Burundi (Group F) on the pitch of the Berkane municipal stadium (8:00 p.m.).

Nine African teams will qualify for the World Cup, which will be held for the first time with 48 teams. The four best runners-up from the groups will play in a CAF play-off tournament. The winner of this mini-championship will participate in the FIFA play-off tournament.
