The African Union on Saturday called for concerted continental efforts to address growing threats to peace and security in Africa, stemming mainly from the scourges of terrorism and armed conflict.

Bankole Adeoye, the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, made the statement on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, which is celebrated every year on September 21.
