Gilat Satellite Networks (Nasdaq and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: GILT), a world leader in technology for satellite communications networks, solutions and services, announced today that Africa’s largest satellite transmission network over satellite is expanding its coverage to 12 African countries. Africa Mobile Networks (AMN) has deployed Gilat’s communications networks and ordered from the company Terminal additional cellular transmission to serve a number of Tier-1 communications companies in Africa.

“AMN has chosen Gilat to support the expansion of the largest satellite-based cellular transmission network in Africa, thanks to its superior satellite-based cellular transmission technology,” said Michael Dercy, CEO of AMN. “We are pleased to contribute to closing the digital divide by expanding our network’s range with the Capricorn satellite terminal on Gilat’s SkyEdge II-c platform, and reaching a wider African population.”

“Gilat greatly appreciates its long-standing partnership with AMN and shares with it a common goal to improve the lives of people living across Africa through high-quality connectivity,” said Michal Aharonov, VP of Commercial Operations at Gilat Satellite Networks. “Gilat is working closely with AMN to expand cellular transmission coverage at other sites and districts over the next few years, including moving beyond the 4G network to support the growing demand for data communications.”
