Mumbai: Jaydev Unadghat, who replaced Mohammad Shami in the Test series against Bangladesh, will not play in the first Test starting tomorrow. Unadghat could not reach Bangladesh before the first Test due to delays in the visa process. With this, it is certain that Unadghat will not play in the first Test starting tomorrow.

In the absence of Unadghat, Navdeep Seiniav is expected to join the team tomorrow along with Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj as the third pacer.

Kaiyan pacer Jaydev Unadghat, who shone for Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, will replace Shami against Bangladesh. Unadghat is returning to the Indian Test team after 12 years. Unadghat last bowled for India in a Test against South Africa in 2010. Since then, Unadghat has played seven ODIs and 10 T20Is for India, but was never considered for a Test.
Unadghat has bowled for India only in one Test so far in his career. When asked why left-arm pacer Unadghat was included instead of right-arm pacer Mohammad Shami, BCCI sources explained that he was included in the team based on his current form. Unadghat shone with 19 wickets in 10 matches in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The first match of the Test series against Bangladesh is on the 14th. India will play a two-Test series against Bangladesh. India will be led by KL Rahul as captain Rohit Sharma will not play in the first match of the Test series after suffering an injury during the ODI series. After losing the ODI series, it is imperative for India to win the Test series.
