jpnn.comBANDARLAMPUNG – Public Relations of Way Kambas National Park (TNWK) Sukatmoko said the fire that occurred for two nights since Saturday (7/9) had been extinguished on Monday (9/9) morning.

“Thank God, the burning point has been extinguished. Indeed, this fire is not only at one point but several points in TNWK,” said Sukatmoko, contacted from Bandarlampung, Tuesday.

He said that the fire extinguishing efforts in TNWK were carried out by a joint team involving the TNI, Polri and the community, as well as officers from Way Kambas.

“The extinguishing process took a long time because the area that was burned was quite extensive, even our friends were exhausted trying to extinguish the fire,” he said.

Moreover, he continued, several locations that were burned were also difficult to reach, even the water sources at the location were also experiencing drought due to the dry season.

“That is the obstacle we have faced so far. But if the efforts are clear, we have conducted patrols, early detection, and in the extinguishing process we involved the TNI, Polri, and the community,” he said.

Sukatmoko said that the area that was burned was in a stretch of weeds and bushes, so the fire spread quickly.

“God willing, large animals are safe and will not become victims. However, small animals such as reptiles have been burned to death,” he said.

Joint officers managed to extinguish the fire that occurred in Way Kambas National Park.
