Protests against the timeframe project interdicted the BR-463, MS-156 and Dourados ring road

Road blocks in the southern region of Mato Grosso do Sul were closed at 5 pm this Tuesday (30), interdicted for eight hours by indigenous communities in protest against the bill of the time frame, in vote in the Chamber of Deputies.

On the BR-463, between Dourados and Ponta Porã, the blockade caused queues in both directions. According to the PRF (Federal Highway Police), as they had announced during the day, at 5 pm the indigenous people removed the barricades and allowed the vehicles to pass (see images above). The interdiction took place at km 53.

The Ring Road, between the urban perimeter of Dourados and the Bororó and Jaguapiru villages, and the MS-156, which connects Dourados to Itaporã, were also released. The two state highways were also blocked throughout the day.

“The deputies deceived us, they lied to us, they came to our communities to ask for our votes and now they want to approve a genocidal project. The indigenous people did not appear in the 80s, we were here in 1500, when the Portuguese arrived”, said a Guarani-Kaiowá leader, who participated in the blockade in front of the Yvu-Verá camp, next to the Ring Road.

According to the thesis of the temporal framework, only lands occupied by indigenous peoples until the enactment of the 1988 Constitution could be demarcated. The proposal led by the ruralist group is criticized by entities fighting for the defense of indigenous peoples.
