The police in Essen are unable to make any progress in the case of a serious bite attack by a fighting dog on a small child. Now the investigators hope that a ghost image will help.

The police in Essen want to find a fugitive suspect using a phantom image. The wanted man is said to be the owner of a dog that seriously injured a toddler by biting him in the face on January 5th. The suspect then ran away. After the incident, investigators followed up on many leads and clues. The dog’s owner has not yet been identified, the police said on Tuesday.

Dog is said to be a Molosser mix

Now the investigators hope that Phantom image puts them on the trail of what they are looking for. Witnesses describe him as a 30 to 45 year old man, 170 to 175 centimeters tall and said to have a noticeably long and bushy beard. His dog is said to be a black Molosser mix with a white spot on his right chest.

The 13-month-old boy had to be treated in hospital for several days after the attack. It is still unclear whether he has any permanent damage, the police said.
