After São Paulo drew 1-1 with Athletico Paranaense, at the Ligga Arena, in Curitiba-PR, in the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship, coach Dorival Júnior highlighted the importance of having a competitive squad, without distinction between starters and substitutes.
“We don’t have a division for one game and another. If a player makes a good performance, it does not mean that he will automatically be a starter, nor does it mean that if he makes an average or regular performance he will not be ruled out. We have to think opponent by opponent. I imagined that, for this match, this formation would be the best, I believe they gave a great response and that is what we want: a group that is always attentive and connected to be able to play when necessary”, said the São Paulo coach.
The commander also emphasizes that group work must be praised, both in positive and victorious moments, and in those in which the result is adverse, always prioritizing the collective.
“Football cannot be reduced to one change that made a considerable difference. It’s a team performance. Whether we win or lose, we are a team,” he said.
São Paulo returns to the field next Thursday (2), to face Cruzeiro, at 8 pm, at Morumbi Stadium, in a match valid for the 31st round of the Brazilian Championship.
