/ The media office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced in a brief statement on Friday that the latter opened the northern refinery in Baiji after its rehabilitation and a halt that lasted more than 10 years.
Baiji refinery is considered the largest in Iraq, with an estimated production capacity of 310,000 barrels per day. ISIS occupied the refinery in May 2014 after taking control of Baiji district.
After the liberation of Baiji district from the grip of ISIS in 2015, the refinery suffered from the loss of equipment and machinery, and armed factions that participated in the military operations against the organization, which lasted for nearly a full year, were accused of stealing and selling them later.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced the recovery of stolen equipment and devices from the Baiji refinery.
