In the city of Elad, the funeral of the late Rabbi Ophir Hai Barda, rabbi of the Tefila Lemsha community and one of the city’s leading rabbis, was held this evening (Sunday), who died after falling ill at the age of only 60.

The late Rabbi Ofir was very well known in the city as the one who founded the Beit Midrash and the ‘Tefila Lemsha’ congregation, numbering hundreds of God-fearing children, whom he took care of for many years with great dedication, in addition to being a dear father and family man to all those around him.

About a year ago, the late rabbi fell ill with a serious illness and since then he has accepted his severe suffering with love, while believing in God. In the year 2015, he even killed Rabbi Ofir’s son, the late Matityahu, in a serious car accident.

In a notice of condolence on behalf of the municipality of Elad, it is written that the island of Gabra Raba was taken from us, here a Margliot producer, devoted in heart and soul to the members of his community, many of whom benefited from his advice and resourcefulness, a guide and light of paths in the Holy Torah.

His funeral took place this evening with the participation of crowds from his seminary on Ibn Gvirol Street in Elad, to the new cemetery in the city where he was buried.

May his soul be bundled in the bundle of life
