The encryption algorithms used to activate the different Windows versions are the company’s best kept secrets. Your money goes into it. At a time when Microsoft wants all users to switch to Windows 11, they have managed to crack the activation algorithm for Windows XP, the version that hit the market in October 2001, almost 22 years ago.

The way to activate Windows XP is well documented on the internet, with the advantage that this system is the definitive way to activate it because the entire process is done offline. There was some way to generate Windows XP keys, but the activation had to be done by a remote server. Now everything can be done locally, taking the phone activation code and generating the confirmation identifier that would be provided via a genuine call.

There are still older systems running Windows XP, isolated systems for production lines or others, for which this method can be useful, or for when Microsoft is no longer able to do remote activation. Windowx XP is an outdated version, riddled with security holes and lacking in modern features, but it does have its uses for a handful of users.
