After becoming involved in several controversies and being accused of anti-Semitism, the billionaire Elon Musk is this Monday (27) in Israel, where he visited a Jewish community targeted by terrorists in October 7th. Alongside the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX and the social network X saw up close the horrors of the massacre promoted by Hamas.
Musk and Netanyahu went to two houses in kibbutz Kfar Aza, near the border with the Gaza Strip. There, the businessman heard the story of 4-year-old girl Avigail Idan, whose parents were murdered by terrorists; she was kidnapped on October 7th and released yesterday.
Musk’s visit coincides with a four-day truce in the war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza.
Netanyahu had previously met with Musk in California on September 18 and asked him to strike a balance between protecting free speech and combating hate speech, following weeks of controversy over anti-Semitic content on X.
In response, Musk said he was against anti-Semitism and anything that “promotes hate and conflict”, repeating previous statements that X would not promote hate speech.
However, on November 15, Musk endorsed a post on X that falsely claimed that Jewish people were fueling hatred against white people. At the time, the businessman said that the user who referenced the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory was telling “the truth.”
The White House condemned what it called the “abhorrent promotion of anti-Semitic and racist hatred” that “goes against our fundamental values as Americans.”
Major U.S. companies including Walt Disney, Warner Bros., Discovery and NBCUniversal parent Comcast have suspended advertising on X.
The “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory claims that Jewish people and the left are planning the ethnic and cultural replacement of white populations with non-white immigrants, which will lead to “white genocide”.
