Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this evening (Monday) with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who congratulated him on his victory in the elections. This is the first conversation between the two since the beginning of the war in Ukraine last February.
According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, “In the warm and personal conversation between them, the prime minister-designate thanked Zelensky for the blessings and repeated his words during the election campaign, that after taking office he will seriously examine the Ukraine issue.”
At the same time, in Ukraine they said that Zelensky invited Netanyahu to visit Kiev. In a tweet he wrote on Twitter after the conversation, Zelensky said that “I expressed hope that the level of interaction between Israel and Ukraine will match the security challenges facing our countries.”

As you may recall, last week Zelensky congratulated Netanyahu on his victory, when he said he also scolded outgoing Prime Minister Yair Lapid. “Congratulations to Netanyahu for winning the elections. It is always important to see real democracy in action,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter. “Ukraine and Israel share common values and many challenges that require effective cooperation. We hope to open a new page in relations with the new Israeli government, and that we will cooperate for Israel and Ukraine together!”
Earlier today, Netanyahu spoke with US President Joe Biden, who called and congratulated him on his election victory. During the conversation, which lasted 8 minutes, Biden emphasized his commitment to Israel and strengthened Netanyahu.
“We are brothers, we will make history together. My commitment to Israel is unquestionable,” said Biden. “Congratulations, friend, and a warm greeting to Sarah.” Netanyahu said in response that “we will bring more historic peace agreements, it is within reach. My commitment to our alliance and our relationship is stronger than ever. A warm greeting to your wife Jill.’
