After an interruption of nearly 30 years, the National Railway Transport Company in Algeria announced ‍the resumption of the railway line linking Algeria and Tunisia.

The company stated,⁢ “The official⁣ launch signal for this line will ‍be given on August 10, ⁤and the first commercial flight will depart from⁤ the Tunis station on ⁣August 11, while‌ the first commercial flight will⁤ depart from‌ the Annaba station on ⁢Tuesday,‍ August 13.”

According to the Algerian News Agency, the company added: “The train, which will transport passengers on ⁢this line over a ​distance⁤ of 357 ⁤km, ⁤consists ‍of two⁢ first-class carriages and two‍ second-class carriages, with⁤ a capacity of up to 300 passengers ⁢per trip, in addition to ⁤a carriage to ensure catering⁣ services during the trip⁣ and an additional carriage designated for transporting ​luggage.”

The ⁣company stated that “a daily flight between ‍the two countries will‌ be scheduled in ⁢the first⁣ phase, starting from‌ Annaba ​station, ‍passing through Souk Ahras, Ghar El Dima, ⁤Jendouba, and ⁤Beja, arriving at the capital Tunis, and the number of flights⁣ will gradually be increased and the number of seats will be increased according ⁢to the⁣ demand registered ⁣by passengers.”

The company said: ⁢“The ⁢trip schedule will be as follows: departing​ from Annaba train station⁤ on⁢ Sundays,⁣ Tuesdays and⁣ Thursdays ‌at nine ​o’clock (09.00) in the morning, arriving in Tunis⁤ at six⁢ twenty-seven (18.27), and​ departing ‌from Tunis ⁤station on Mondays, ⁤Wednesdays and Fridays, at eight twenty-five (08.25), arriving in​ Annaba at⁢ six twenty⁤ (18.20).”

The crossing⁣ procedures will be carried out at the Souk ⁣Ahras International Station for Algeria and ⁢at the Ghar El-Dimaa Station ⁢for Tunisia. Travelers can ⁢purchase travel ⁢tickets at the ‌Annaba and Souk ​Ahras stations, or at the Algiers, Oran ⁤and⁤ Constantine stations.

The⁣ company said: “A competitive⁢ price has been​ set compared to other ‌means of transportation, as ‌the price of a first-class ticket⁢ is‍ 1,900 ‍DZD (about ‍45 Tunisian dinars), the price of⁤ a second-class ticket is 1,640 DZD (about 38⁣ Tunisian dinars), the⁤ price of a first-class round-trip ticket is 3,485 DZD (80 ‌Tunisian ‍dinars) and the price of a second-class ‌round-trip ticket is 3,040 DZD (70 Tunisian ‍dinars), with free transportation for children under ​4 years old, in addition‌ to a 50% discount for children from 4 to​ 12 years old.”

The⁣ train service ‍between ⁤Algeria and‍ Tunisia has been suspended since the 1990s due‍ to the circumstances witnessed in Algeria.
