For the first time since 1950, will Israel no longer hold the beauty pageant?
According to a report on the Walla website, the event will not be held this year, and Israel will not send a local representative to the Miss Universe global competition, which will be held in January in the USA.
As I remember, the previous Miss Universe competition was held in Eilat, and the one who represented us then was Noa Kochba.
Last year, when the world pageant was held in Israel, as mentioned, it was attacked by the model and actress Lenor Abergil, the beauty queen and Miss World for 1998.
“The year is 2021. Women walk in swimsuits while people covet them and choose the one who will get to be Miss Universe!! Really???” Abergil wrote on her Instagram account. “It is simply a disgrace that our girls have to live even today by physical external validation of their worth, often by uneducated drooling men!!”
Abergil also added and wrote: “We women are royalty. No one can treat us as if we were an object without a soul that needs to be valued… You bring life. You are the world and its fullness. You are everything and you have everything!!!”
Abergil concluded: “There will be days when we look back and won’t believe that we had such competitions. Shame!”
