Will the Red Bull empire expand even further? Already very present in football, Formula 1 and extreme sports, the group specializing in energy drinks is in the process of acquiring a 51% stake in the Bora-hansgrohe cycling team. The Austrian Federal Competition Authority confirmed the information on its website.

The German team did the same, via a press release. “Red Bull plans to expand its involvement in road cycling and aims for a partnership with Bora-hansgrohe,” it reads. The Austrian company is in fact already invested in cycling and personally sponsors riders like Tom Pidcock (Ineos) or Wout van Aert (Visma).

These new investments confirm the ambitions of Bora-hansgrohe, with at the head of the gondola the arrival of Primoz Roglic (triple winner of the Vuelta and crowned in the Giro last year) or Daniel Felipe Martinez during the off-season. The Slovenian will try to join the fight with Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard in the Tour de France.
