After Gurusoma Sundaram, the villain felt sympathetic to the audience

Joshi-Suresh Gopi’s collaboration has once again brought the crime thriller film Pappan to the audience. When watching the film, the audience gets the impression that they are traveling along with the police officers to find answers to the ongoing series of murders.

A major attraction of the film is the excellent performance of the actors. Shammi Thilakan’s was one of the most noted performances.

****************spoiler alert****************

Shammi Thilakan appeared in the film as a serial killer named Chacko. At first, he created the impression of an invented villain in Malayalam cinema, but later on, the construction of this character was misleading the assumptions of the audience. He had his own justifications for revenge.

When he says, ‘All the people I killed should have died, except one, it was a mistake,’ and the audience will sympathize with Abraham Mathan, the hero. Abraham Mathew Mathan is helpless to take revenge on Chacko who has caused great losses in his life.

After coming out of jail, Chacko tells the story behind how he became like this while eating the porota and beef that Mathan bought for him. This is the most beautiful and intense scene in Papen.

Shammi Thilakan portrayed Chacko beautifully. In Papen he has reflected the vengeance and helplessness of Chaco most intensely.
