/ The Executive Office of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, in Doha, to discuss an alternative to the State of Kuwait, which has apologized for hosting the 26th Gulf Cup.
The Executive Office of the Gulf Cup Federation announced that it will hold its first meeting for the year 2024, headed by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Federation, in the Qatari capital, Doha, tomorrow.
Qatari media reported that the meeting, which is being held on the sidelines of the 2023 Asian Cup currently being held in Qatar, will discuss the alternative country to Kuwait.
The reason for Kuwait’s apology for not hosting the next tournament is not known, but the tournament system stipulates that an alternative country be designated in the event that the host country apologizes for any emergency.
The meeting will also determine the members of the standing committees and approve the minutes of the previous meeting of the Executive Office.
Last May, the Arabian Gulf Cup Federation announced that the General Assembly held in the Qatari capital approved Kuwait hosting the “Gulf 26” in December 2024.
In 2016, Kuwait had previously apologized for not organizing the Gulf Cup “Gulf 23”, which was scheduled to be hosted by Kuwait in the same year.
It is noteworthy that Kuwait, whose national team tops the list of Gulf Cup winners with 10 titles, was to host this tournament for the fifth time.
