– How does Jeon So-min’s character growth in this drama compare too her previous roles?
Interview Between Time.news Editor and K-drama Expert Dr. Lee Jae-suk
Time.news Editor: Good morning, everyone! Today, we have a special guest joining us—Dr. Lee Jae-suk, a renowned expert in the world of Korean dramas. We’re here to discuss the highly anticipated new drama, “I’ll Send You Today Again,” starring Jeon So-min. Welcome, dr. Lee!
Dr. Lee: Good morning! Thank you for having me. I’m excited to discuss this new project.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. Jeon So-min returns to the screen after her time on “Running Man.” How meaningful is this moment for her, and what can we expect from her performance in this new role?
Dr. lee: Absolutely,it’s a significant moment for her career. Jeon So-min is beloved for her light-hearted persona, especially from “Running Man.” She’s described this role as her first major comeback drama, which adds an emotional layer to her performance. Given her excitement about transitioning to a more serious yet cheerful narrative, we can expect her to embody the character of Ji Song-i with depth and relatability.
Editor: Interesting! Ji Song-i’s story involves breaking off an engagement and navigating life with multiple part-time jobs. How do you think this reflects current societal pressures, particularly for women?
Dr. Lee: This is a powerful narrative that resonates with many women today, especially in urban settings where financial independence is crucial. Ji Song-i’s journey mirrors the challenges faced by single women in navigating societal expectations, financial responsibilities, and personal growth. The decision to disguise herself as a married woman also speaks to the pressures of societal norms regarding relationships and motherhood. it’s a commentary on the bravado often seen among “new city moms,” making it relatable and thought-provoking.
Editor: The drama also involves romance with lawyer cha Hyeon-woo. How do you see this adding to the plot dynamics?
Dr. Lee: The romantic subplot with Cha Hyeon-woo,portrayed by Choi Daniel, introduces an interesting counterbalance to Ji Song-i’s struggles. It’s a classic trope of a strong female lead encountering romantic possibilities amid personal challenges. their chemistry could serve as an escape and could help in her character’s development, transforming her from a place of struggle to one of empowerment through love and partnership.
Editor: The series is produced by Min Ji-young and written by Yoo-jin Jo. How do their past works influence your expectations for this drama?
Dr. Lee: Both Min Ji-young and Yoo-jin Jo have demonstrated strong storytelling in their previous works. Min Ji-young’s experience with character-driven narratives and relatable themes will likely ensure that the characters are well-developed and nuanced. Yoo-jin Jo has a talent for blending seriousness with light-heartedness,a balance that’s crucial for engaging the audience while conveying deeper messages. This builds my anticipation for the drama’s emotional and plot layers.
Editor: “I’ll Send You Today Again” is set to premiere on the 5th of December. What are your predictions for it’s reception?
Dr. Lee: Given Jeon so-min’s immense popularity, combined with a fresh and engaging storyline,I predict a warm reception. The theme of resilience and the contemporary struggles of women are sure to resonate with a broad audience, from young adults to working parents. Viewer engagement on platforms like Netflix can further amplify its reach, making it a potential hit.
