The results of the first centralized exam have already been calculated according to the new methodology, the results of the second CE will also be calculated according to the same methodology, they will be known next Monday. This was reported by the Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets, writes BelTA:

“The results of the inspection showed that there are no errors, including in the methodology of calculating test scores. However, based on the number of appeals received from citizens, it became clear that the methodology is too complicated…

Already today, the results of the first centralized exam will be listed and posted today on the RIKV website, as well as in the applicants’ personal offices,” said Andrei Ivanets.

He noted that together with the results of the centralized exam – both the first and the second – they will publish the tables of the conversion of primary points to test points, by which each applicant and each graduate will be able to double-check the correctness of the calculation of their results.

“All entrants who are preparing to take part in the centralized testing should also understand that the conditions for conducting both the CE and CT will be absolutely identical. This applies both to the complexity of the test tasks, which fully correspond to the school curriculum, and to the calculation of test scores, – said the head of the educational department.

According to the minister, this is important, because it is necessary to create equal, clear, fair conditions for all graduates of this year, as well as for graduates of previous years, who this year will have the opportunity to pass three centralized tests for admission to universities.

What happened

This year, school graduates took the so-called “centralized exam” – it is both a final exam and an entrance exam at a university, the results of which can be submitted upon admission. In previous years, graduates took final exams at the school, followed by centralized testing for admission.

The following scheme worked on this year’s exam: for each correct or partially correct assignment, the graduate is awarded 1 or 2 primary points. The sum of the primary scores is then converted into a final test score. For example, there were 80 questions in the test, and if all of them were correct, you could get 100 points. All calculations are made according to a formula that the Republican Institute of Knowledge Control does not publish.

However, the entrants were surprised by the results of their tests: in some, with two partially correct answers, the final test result was 86 points out of 100.

“My daughter had two meetings where they tried to explain how it would go. On the rehearsal exam, everyone supposedly understood the logic. And then the exam itself takes place, and it turns out that the counting system is completely different. This wave of indignation could have been avoided if they had not been in a hurry, they had tried to protest it all, they would have held a rehearsal this year, and already held it for next year,” said one of Svoboda’s interlocutors.

For example, there are 80 tasks in the Russian language test. The counting system, according to the plan of the officials, had to work as follows: if the applicant has 0 to 75 correct answers, then this is translated into the final points on a 100-point scale: if he scored 65, then it will be 65, if he scored 75, then 75. The last 5 tasks are considered according to the progressive scheme, correct answers to them give more points, and the final result can reach 100 points. The problem is that the graduates learned about such a counting system only after the results were announced.

This year, many more graduates passed with an excellent result of 100 points than in past yearsan excellent result in the Belarusian language typed 413 people (67 people on CT last year), 482 according to Russian (43 people on CT last year).
