The five groups are each Group 1 from Jakarta embarkation (JKG) with 393 pilgrims, then Group 1 Solo embarkation (SOC) with 360 pilgrims. Group 1 from Makassar embarkation (UPG) totaling 393 pilgrims. Including the Aceh Embarkation Group 1 (BTJ) with 393 pilgrims and the Medan Embarkation Group 1 (KNO) with 370 pilgrims.

“Alhamdulillah, preparations for the departure of the pilgrims from Medina to Mecca are ready. All officers at Bir Ali or Dzulhulaiffah are on standby to receive pilgrims from Medina,” said the Head of the Work Area (Kadaker) of Medina Zaenal Muttaqin, Thursday (1/6/2023).

According to Zaenal, the departure of the pilgrims to Bir Ali was divided into two waves. The departure of the first wave was carried out at 14.00 Saudi Arabian Time (WAS) for three groups. Meanwhile, the second batch of departures is scheduled for 16.00 WAS as many as two groups. They will be transported using 43 buses.

“To welcome the pilgrims, we will place a number of officers at several points in Bir Ali to monitor the movements of the pilgrims. There are 5 posts that will be prepared in Bir Al starting from the entry post to the bus departure post for Mecca,” he said.

The staff at Bir Ali will remind pilgrims to perform ihram or carry out their umrah intentions. “So remind them that there should be no ban on ihram that is still worn by pilgrims,” he explained.

Including reminding and directing the congregation and group leaders to know the position of the bus parking and where the entrance to Bir Ali is for male and female congregations.

“Reminding the congregation where the entrance to the place of ablution is. Doors 1-5 are for male congregations and doors 6-7 are for female congregations,” he explained.

Bearing in mind that the time at Bir Ali is limited to 30 minutes, pilgrims are advised to have bathed and put on ihram cloth since they arrived at the hotel.

“We urge the congregation to wear the ihram cloth, do not bathe in Bir Ali but in their respective hotels. Then wear the ihram cloth according to the regulations. Men no longer need to wear sewn clothes. For women, wear like ihram clothes and already perform ablution in order to save time,” he said.

One of the pilgrims from Group 1 embarked on Fadholi, 56, said he was preparing to leave for Bir Ali to take the miqat or intention to enter ihram. “Yes, I’m getting ready to go to Mecca. But take the miqat first at Bir Ali,” he said.

The same thing was said by Fadholi’s roommate, Qodir, 60. According to Qodir, after taking the miqat at Bir Ali, the congregation will depart for Mecca to perform Umrah. “After that we stay at the hotel to wait for the peak of the pilgrimage,” he explained.
