After Nicolas Sarkozy, Elisabeth Borne wants to meet François Hollande

by time news

Nicolas Sarkozy will not be the only one to have the honor of meeting Élisabeth Borne. The Prime Minister, who had lunch last Monday with the former UMP president, said in Le Figaro that she intended to meet François Hollande. “All those who have experience in state management, it is important to listen to what they have to say to us”, she justifies to the newspaper.

“I met my predecessors. It is important, when you are in responsibilities like those that I exercise to listen to all those who have experience. Including the Presidents of the Republic”, details with the Figaro Élisabeth Borne. Contacted by the newspaper, the entourage of the former president said, however, to have “received no invitation for the moment”.

A lunch as a symbol

The lunch between Elisabeth Borne and Nicolas Sarkozy, revealed Tuesday by Le Parisien, had been perceived as a rapprochement with Emmanuel Macron. One more: Nicolas Sarkozy – without calling for a vote for him before the first round – had very little support for the LR presidential candidate, Valérie Pécresse; in an interview, he also pushed LR to get closer to the presidential majority.

Should we see in the invitation to François Hollande a gesture? Critic of the Socialist Party’s agreement to build Nupes, the former socialist president has always been very harsh against Emmanuel Macron and his mandate.
