After pitbull attack, writer and poet Roseana Murray recovers from surgery

Recovering from surgery at the Trauma Center of Hospital Estadual Alberto Torres (Heat), in São Gonçalo, after suffering an attack from three pitbulls, writer Roseana Murray, aged 73, spent the night as well as possible, according to family members reported this Saturday morning (6). She lost an arm and an ear after being attacked by dogs, this Friday morning (5), in Saquarema, in the Lagos Region, when she was going for a walk. Those responsible for each of the animals were arrested for mistreatment.

In contact with Roseana’s family, Sandra Noleto, 61, the neighbor who saw the attack, said that she is recovering.

— According to her family, she spent the night as well as possible — informed Sandra, who woke up to Roseana’s screams on Friday morning: — I woke up to the screams, the housekeeper here said she was the neighbor. When I ran, I saw it was Roseane. A neighbor tried to throw the car in the direction of the dogs, because she was screaming for help — she recalled.

The management of the Alberto Torres State Hospital reported that Roseana was promptly treated on Friday morning and that, after evaluation by a multidisciplinary medical team, including a neurosurgeon, general surgeon, maxillofacial surgeon and orthopedist, she underwent surgery and remains stable.

Roseana was rescued by the Fire Department and taken to the Trauma Center of the Alberto Torres State Hospital (Heat), in São Gonçalo, with the help of a corporation helicopter. The case was registered at the 124th DP (Saquarema), which investigates crimes of animal abuse, negligent bodily harm and failure to take care of animals.
