Eight-Year-Old Fabricates Arson Story in Panevėžys
The Panevėžys County Police Department in Lithuania received a report on Friday morning concerning a burnt child. Initial investigations revealed that the child claimed an unknown young man poured flammable liquid on him and set him ablaze. The child ran home and informed his mother, who took him to the hospital.
Upon receiving the report, police officers visited the scene of the alleged incident, but found no signs of fire, burnt materials, or flammable liquid containers. Officials expressed skepticism about the child’s story, stating, ”Everything is not as clear as it seems. This is a child’s story, everything is thoroughly checked.”
The police investigation revealed that the version of arson was fabricated. Further interviews revealed that the children had handled fire carelessly, leading to the eight-year-old boy burning his leg. The older boy fabricated the arson story to cover up his mistake.
