After raising the price in the US: McDonald’s raises prices in Israel as well

by time news

The Facebook page of McDonald’s Israel announced last night an increase in prices online. “As of December 29, we are raising meal prices in shekels for the first time in four years,” the statement said. The prices of drinking products will also rise.

This price increase is explained by a wage increase of about 6% on average starting in January 2022, a rise in the prices of raw materials and sweetened beverage taxes and disposable utensils.

User comments on the page range from “Congratulations on transparency”, through “Come on to Burger King Bay”, to a cynical critique such as “And we skimp on mayonnaise”.

Two months ago, McDonald’s Global announced a price increase after the chain raised workers’ wages. In October, the company announced that menu prices would catch up with rising inputs, with salaries alone rising 10 percent so far in the chain’s U.S. branches. According to company executives, McDonald’s expects its commodity prices to rise 3.5 percent to 4 percent, compared to The 2% increase that was earlier in 2021.

These higher prices are making their way to consumers, and executives said they expect the chain’s prices to rise 6% this year compared to last year.
