The United States stressed this Friday that it would support an eventual “pause” of Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip so that humanitarian aid and fuel can enter the place and so that the hostages can be released.

“We totally believe that if a pause can be made to allow the release of the hostages that is something that we would absolutely support and we believe that Israel should support it,” White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.

He stressed that although Washington has had conversations on the matter with Israelthey have nothing to announce at the moment.

Kirby said his government would support “humanitarian pauses” for both the entry of material into the Strip and the departure of those held captive.

Strip was left completely without internet and telephone, while fuel reserves ran out

“If that requires a localized temporary pause to do so, we absolutely support that. We support any effort that can be made to bring them home safely. with their families, but we are going to be careful with what we say publicly” about that, he concluded.

The White House representative wanted to make it clear, however, that the US does not set “red lines” for Israel.

“We do not put red lines on Israel. We continue to support their security needs. (…) They are going against Hamas. (…) And at the same time, From the beginning we have had and will continue to have conversations with them about how they do it,” he said.

The US, he added, has not “held back” in expressing its concerns about “civilian casualties, collateral damage and the approach they may choose.” “That’s what friends do. We’re friends and we’re having those conversations,” she added.

His statement comes on the same day that Israel announced that it will now increase the intensity of ground operations against the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Stripwhich has been left completely cut off as a result of the heavy bombings of the last few hours.
