/ The administrations of the Dohuk and Zakho clubs agreed, on Thursday, on new measures aimed at ensuring safety and security during the matches, as the agreement stipulates that fans of the away team be prohibited from attending the host team’s stadium for two consecutive years.

This decision comes based on growing fears of repeated riots between fans of the two teams.

This agreement was reached during a meeting between the presidents of the Dohuk and Zakho clubs at the headquarters of the Olympic Committee in Dohuk, in the presence of the President of the Dohuk Olympic Committee.

The president of the Dohuk Club, Abdullah Jalal Al-Din, confirmed to Agency that “the public security and safety of the fans of the two teams is their top priority, noting that they “bear responsibility for any unwanted incident occurring inside the stadium.”

For his part, Zakho Club President Ammar Farhad stressed to the agency “the strength of the relations between the two clubs given that they share the same governorate,” noting that “the two clubs occupy advanced positions in the Iraq Stars League standings.”

He added, “The goal is to maintain the level of the two teams and avoid imposing new sanctions on them.”

Next Saturday evening will witness a match between Zakho Club and Dohuk Club at Zakho Stadium in the Iraq Stars League Championship, where Dohuk fans will be absent according to the agreement.
