“After the Appeal Court Ruling on the Forsamordet: A Protest Against Male Violence Towards Women”

by time news

In July 2021, Jeanette Bergström was found dead in her home, having been subjected to violent acts. Her partner was found guilty of murder in the district court, but the Court of Appeal changed the verdict to extremely serious assault and a seven-year prison sentence, as they believed that she may have died from drug poisoning. A demonstration against the amended verdict took place in Möljen, Hudiksvall, which attracted a large number of people who felt that the sentence was inadequate. Jeanette’s daughter Nathalie was one of the speakers at the event and expressed her frustration at the fact that her mother’s killer would soon be free. She noted that the demonstration highlighted a major social issue that needs to be addressed so that women are not exposed to such risks.

It was in July 2021 that Jeanette Bergström was found dead in her home after ruthless violence was directed at her. Jeanette’s partner was arrested and convicted of murder in the district court.

The Court of Appeal, on the other hand, believes that she may have died from drug poisoning and changes the sentence to extremely serious assault and seven years in prison.

Möljen in Hudiksvall was filled with people on Sunday to demonstrate against the Court of Appeal’s amended verdict.

– It is terrible. It feels like a woman’s life is not worth anything, says visitor Anna Maria Löfgren.

The daughter: “He will be free in a few years”

One of the speakers at the event was Jeanette’s daughter Nathalie, who was overwhelmed by the great commitment.

– My mother is dead, but he will be released in a few years. It’s wrong. I think it engages many people, because it highlights a major social problem that we must address so that more women do not die, says Nathalie Bergström.
