Last week there was severe violence against protesters in Rishon Lezion, during which the protesters were attacked with stones and sticks and needed hospital treatment. Following the attack, the bridge workers sent a letter to the commissioner yesterday (Friday) demanding that the officer fulfill his duties and take care of the protesters’ safety.

Chairman of Meretz Zehava Galon, on her way to the tripartite meeting with Prime Minister Lapid and Labor Party Chairman Merav Michaeli, came to support the protesters at Gesher Hashimon in Nes Ziona and said: “It was important for me to come here before my meeting with the Prime Minister, to the place where the rioters that Netanyahu sent tried to eliminate the huge democratic demonstration of the change camp. Eli Avidar also came to support the protesters at Gesher Rishonim and attacked the Minister of Internal Security Omer Bar-Lev: “The police allow bullying and this time the police minister is not Amir Ohana but one of our own – Omer Bar-Lev.” Investigations by the police are stalled, cases are still open for protestors to stop demonstrations and policemen who violently attacked advanced protesters. We will enter the Knesset and make the necessary change.’

On behalf of the people of the bridges, it was stated: “When Netanyahu’s poison machine rears its head – we return to the bridges.” Violence and incitement will not deter us. We will return to the bridges to make sure he does not return to power. We will not stand by when accused of crimes that threaten to turn Israel into a state of Kahana Hai and trample on democracy in order to escape the threat of judgment. We beat him before, we’ll beat him again!’
