The press representative of the State Police, Gita Gžibovska, confirmed to the LETA agency that a submission was received from a woman whose child died in the hospital, with a request to check whether the doctors have adequately treated the child and whether there is no evidence of negligence and inaction in the actions of the doctors.

As usual, upon receiving this type of submissions, an investigation must be carried out in order to clarify the circumstances of the incident. A criminal trial has been initiated under the section “Criminal offenses against personal health” of the Criminal Law.

It has already been announced that a four-year-old boy who was not vaccinated against diphtheria died on September 16 after contracting diphtheria. Police later arrested the boy’s parents in another criminal case for taking their two other children, who were also unvaccinated and contracted diphtheria, from the hospital, and the children were taken back to the hospital.

Both parents are suspects in this criminal trial, and the case is being investigated according to the article of the Criminal Law on deliberately leaving without help a person who is in a life- or health-threatening situation and who has no way to save himself due to his youth, illness or his own incapacity, if the perpetrator had the opportunity to help the victim and there was an obligation to take care of him or the perpetrator himself put him in a life-threatening situation.

After the incident, hatred and slander were directed at the doctors of BKUS on social media. The state police received a complaint from the hospital about possible defamation of the hospital’s staff, and the said complaint is still under consideration, the LETA agency found out from the police.
