In the event that Baire does not accept the mandate, the next person to receive the mandate is Viesturs Zariņš, who ran in the election from “Jaunās vietības”, according to the information of the Central Election Commission (CVK). Zariņš is a member of Valka County Council, deputy chairman.
Edmunds Jurēvics, head of the Saeima faction of the “New Unity” (JV), told LETA that it is not yet known who will replace Kariņš in the Saeima. Baire has not yet commented on its plans to the LETA agency.
The LETA agency already reported that Kariņš, a parliamentarian, former prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, has resigned as a member of the Saeima. In the future, the work will focus on professional challenges in the private sector.
In 2021, Baire was elected to the Ķekava County Council from the “New Unity” party. When the government of Krišjānis Kariņas (JV) was formed and when Kariņas left the Saeima, Baire got a temporary mandate as a Saeima deputy.
Later, when Kariņš resigned from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baire had to leave the parliament, so she decided to return to work in the county council.
In July of this year, in a sudden change of power, Baire became the chairman of the Ķekava county council.
