Hallesche FC responded to the allegations of racism against a spectator in an open letter. Accordingly, the third division have filed a criminal complaint. Not only opposing players were insulted.

The board of Hallesches FC has reacted to the alleged racist insult against the Fürth player Julian Green and has filed a criminal complaint. The third division football team announced this in an open letter on its website on Monday. The investigation is already underway. The letter states that everything will be done to clarify the allegations.

Coach Alexander Zorniger from SpVgg Greuther Fürth described the ugly incident at the press conference after his team’s 1-0 win on Saturday evening. “One of my players, Julian Green, was racially insulted in the stadium and called a monkey. If one or the other bullshit thinks he really has to insult someone racially, then the DFB can run another respect campaign. But it’s about showing character ourselves,” said Zorniger, calling for more civil courage in society.

Insults also against HFC players

In the open letter, Hallesche FC once again formally apologized for the misconduct of a spectator. It is not at all possible for people to be grossly insulted because of their skin color and nationality. Something like that has no place in the Leuna Chemical Stadium and in the entire HFC family. The association condemns racism and discrimination. The letter also states that the insults were directed at both Fürth and the HFC kicker.

The German Football Association announced investigations in this case on Sunday. “The DFB fundamentally does not tolerate any racism or misanthropy on its pitches! There is zero tolerance. Accordingly, the control committee will intervene and examine the processes,” said Anton Nachreiner, chairman of the DFB committee.

Football does not stand for exclusion, discrimination and hate, said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf on the pay-TV broadcaster Sky on Sunday and “strongly condemned” the alleged incident in Halle. “Courageous courage is required” from each individual, Neuendorf demanded. The neighbors in the stands are also asked and must intervene if intolerable and unspeakable statements are made. “It’s a responsibility we all have to take on.”
