After being hit with an extreme corona wave, North Korea is forced to fight a new disease? Tonight (Saturday through Sunday) it was reported that medical staffs had been sent to the southern Wengha district, where at least 800 families were diagnosed with a mysterious intestinal disease.
According to the publication, patients are battling an “acute intestinal epidemic” when it is not yet clear whether it is cholera or typhus or a new disease. The new outbreak, first reported on Thursday, puts even more strain on the isolated country as it fights a chronic shortage of food and a wave of corona virus.
According to the official KCNA news agency, the district is trying to address the new epidemic by imposing a quarantine on the infected, treating and monitoring the underprivileged population like children and the elderly and disinfection work is being carried out including sewage and waste to ensure drinking water is not contaminated.
