In Swabia, an entire building collapsed after the explosion and many emergency services were on site. Many questions remain open.
According to the police, there is one in Swabia The explosion fell to the ground of the building. It is still unclear whether there are people in the house in Memmingen, the headquarters of the state police said early Friday evening. The whereabouts of at least two people were initially unknown.
The site official spoke of the “extreme amount of damage” and the “huge amount of debris” that had to be removed first. An excavator from the Technical Relief Agency (THW) was used for this purpose. Buildings in the area were also heavily damaged by the explosion around 5:20 p.m.
A massive deployment of police and rescue workers is underway in the city. Emergency services from nearby Baden-Württemberg are also on site. A helicopter circled the city and police set up a media reception area in the early evening hours.
