They were alarmed to receive a consultation document that revealed LKAB’s plan to drive heavy transport vehicles very close to their residential area. The blue lines on the map even suggested that the road would go straight through their apartment complex. Ulla Sydberg believes LKAB was too hasty in sending out the document without considering the impact on several condominium associations.
After the consultation meeting, LKAB’s press manager, Anders Lindberg, could not explain why the road was drawn through the area. However, the mining company took note of the residents’ concerns and held an internal meeting to discuss the matter. That evening, they removed the road options in the entire area.

“Being too eager with this”

– You were probably too eager to send this out. Otherwise, you would never worry several condominium associations in this way, says Ulla Sydberg.
Scrapped the plan after the meeting
LKAB’s press manager Anders Lindberg has no explanation as to why the road was drawn through the area. At the consultation meeting, however, the mining company took on board the views of the residents, convened an internal meeting and deleted the road options in the entire area already that evening.
However, Jan and Ulla Sydberg believe that LKAB should have been able to foresee the reactions even before the consultation meeting.
