The NBA cracked down after the brawl that arose when Orlando and Minnesota met on Saturday.
Orlando center Mo Bamba has been suspended for four games and Minnesota guard Austin Rivers has been suspended for three, the NBA announced on Saturday, a day after their altercation resulted in the exclusion of a total of five players during of this game.
The fight between the two players broke out in front of the Magic bench in the third quarter in Minneapolis. Bamba left his seat and punches were exchanged with Rivers, sparking a melee that had security personnel rushing to separate the protagonists.
«After the incident, Bamba attempted to continue searching hostilely for Rivers in the hallway leading to the locker rooms, aggressively pushing a member of security in his path.“said the NBA in its press release.
The league also took into account that the two playerscontinued to berate each other on social media after the game».
Bamba will begin serving his four-game suspension on Sunday when Orlando travels to Charlotte.
Rivers on the same day, Minnesota hosting the Denver Nuggets.
The penalties didn’t stop there as Orlando player Jalen Suggs received a one-game suspension.for escalating the altercation by aggressively grabbing Rivers around the neck and pulling him to the ground».
Timberwolves winger Jaden McDaniels was fined $20,000 for running into the scrum and shoving Bamba.
