The wave of arbitrary arrests that remains current in Guinea is a concern for stakeholders at all levels. After the Bar Association recently suspended their participation in the resumption of the trial on September 28, the National Chamber of Bailiffs has also disapproved of these incessant violations of human rights in the Republic of Guinea. In a statement made public, this other category of legal professionals have now decided to refrain from any action, starting Monday, July 22 until July 31. The decision was made last Friday, during an extraordinary general meeting.
“We are called upon to enforce not only court decisions, but also to execute them. So, we may also be affected. This is why we have decided, from July 22 to July 31, 2024, to observe the walkout order throughout the territory,” said the Secretary General of the National Chamber of Bailiffs of Guinea, Me Mohamed Mouctar Sylla.
In his statement to the press, the Secretary General expressed his corporation’s concerns regarding human rights violations in Guinea, particularly “the central issue of abduction and kidnapping which unfortunately does not concern the judicial system.”
In the said decision, the bailiffs denounce the “kidnapping” acknowledged in any case by the Conakry public prosecutor’s office of the FNDC leaders and the men in uniform Célestin Bilivogui and Moussa Cheick Soumah.
