At the end of July lrytas.lt already wrote about the fact that N. Mikelionis encountered the law enforcement – a pre-trial investigation is currently being conducted regarding his possibly improper actions in a shopping center in Kaunas.
It was announced that N. Mikelionis allegedly filmed secretly under women’s skirts with a mobile phone in the store. However, the head of the GMP service himself called the situation a misunderstanding, but refrained from further comments.
“You know, I really won’t comment on anything. I will repeat the same thing that this is a misunderstanding. Thank you very much for the call,” he said then.
Representatives of the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat told the portal on Wednesday lrytas.lt confirmed that the pre-trial investigation is still ongoing, but no charges have been brought against N. Mikelionis yet.
Officials did not provide further details, so as not to harm the investigation.
In turn, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications assured that Minister Aurim Pečkauskas received the resignation request of the head of the GMP service at the beginning of the week.
“On August 19, the Minister of Health Protection received the request of GMPT manager Nerijaus Mikelionos to be relieved of his duties and granted it. Today is the last day of Nerijas Mikelion’s work at GMPT.
The manager argued that he was resigning in order to control the reputational damage caused to the institution and himself due to the information that appeared in the public space about possible illegal actions.

“At that time, police officers had just arrived at the store due to a theft that had occurred. After the woman’s complaint, they arrested the man and took him away.
