After the urban riots, which occurred in reaction to the death of Nahel in Nanterre, the degradations noted on the public transport network of Lyon are numerous. A bus on the C17 line was set on fire in Bron on Thursday evening, four tram trains were “heavily degraded” and five stations “vandalized”. “Four drivers in shock at the violence of the events were taken to the hospital”, announced this Friday at the end of the morning, Sytral.

Consequently, the circulation of buses and trams interrupted from 8 p.m. this Friday evening. A decision taken in consultation with the Rhône Prefecture which indicates that the “situation will be studied jointly every morning”.

Burned residential building, sixteen arrests

“An important human system will be deployed on the ground to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel of the metro network which will circulate up to 2 hours if circumstances allow”, further informs Sytral. Only the Hôtel-de-Ville metro station will be closed at 8 p.m., too, due to the demonstration against police violence planned in the area.

In total, incidents have occurred in ten municipalities in the metropolis of Lyon. Four people were slightly injured in the fire in their building on Wednesday evening in Villeurbanne. Originally, young people fired mortars at a tram station. But when a resident would have asked them to stop, they would have voluntarily targeted the building according to BFM.

Sixteen people have been arrested since Wednesday, indicates the Rhône Prefecture.
