The worker was trapped at 00:00 hours this Tuesday, after a landslide occurred in the Pampa Camarones mine in Arica.

The Seremi of Mining of Arica and Parinacota reported that this Wednesday The worker who was trapped at a depth of 260 meters was rescuedfollowing a collapse at the Pampa Camarones mine.

The person involved was identified as José Miguel Espinoza, 43 years old, who works as a LHD operatorwho was inside the mine for more than 44 hours and received medical attention after leaving the mine, being referred to a health center for a more detailed evaluation.

Seremi Daniel Curiqueo Barraza stated that “The good news is that the miner was rescued and is now receiving medical assistance. He is on his way in an ambulance to the clinic in Arica.”

The regional authority told MegaNoticias that “the work of these two days, which has been arduous by the rescue brigades that have come, even, from outside the region, has already borne fruit.”

Curiqueo Barraza added that “the miner is in very good condition. He even walked before getting into the ambulance. So we can say that the job is already done.”
