The fight took place even after two false starts, where warnings were given to the crews of Canada, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Spain, the Republic of South Africa, Canada and New Zealand.
The Lithuanians started the fight unsuccessfully, fell to the fourth place, and then to the fifth. Lithuanians showed the result in 1 min. 30.30 sec.
Lithuanians competed with New Zealand rowers for the dream place in the semi-finals. Finally, after a rather long judge’s decision, it was announced that the Lithuanians finished in 5th position.
Ours missed 0.01 sec. – so Hamish Legarth and Kurtis Imrie took the last ticket to the semi-finals.
The Spaniards, New Zealanders, Canadians and South Africans made it to the semi-finals. Our people and Kazakhstan said goodbye to the competition.
20 crews participated in the double kayak competition. In the first stage, they were divided into five swims.
The system is simple – two teams each went straight to the semi-finals, and eight more were in the next round for additional tickets.
