The stories in Signal are encrypted, like all the other communication that is carried out through it, and the company hinted that their goal is not to try to squeeze attention from other users, as in WhatsApp and Instagram, but simply a way to share photographed experiences with all the friends at the same time without the need to correspond with each of them separately. She emphasized that the reason why she is launching stories is that it is one of the most requested features among users – but for those who do not want it, it is possible to turn it off, and not see any stories in the application.

Users can take a story or upload a photo from their gallery, add text and stickers, and choose who can see them: only contacts with whom they have actually had conversations through the application, also people who are not in the contact list but the users have approved requests to correspond with them, or all contacts (i.e. Anyone whose phone number is in one way or another with the user). You can also hide the story from certain contacts, and turn on or off the option for friends to see if you’ve watched their stories and you’ll see if they’ve watched yours.
