Agadir celebrates the Amazigh New Year
Agadir – The city of Agadir is preparing to celebrate the Amazigh New Year 2973 with a rich and diverse cultural program.
The program of these festivities includes musical and artistic shows, as well as exhibitions devoted to Amazigh works and plastic art, indicates a press release from the Municipality of Agadir.
Activities also include screenings of short Amazigh films, as well as round tables on Amazigh issues.
Three major musical evenings will also be organized in the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella, the “Bensergaou” district and the “Tikiwine” district with the participation of several artists including Raissa Fatima Tabaamrant, Abdelaziz Ahouzar, El Batoul El Merouani, Said Outajjt and Ahwash Tafraout.
According to the organizers, the celebration of the Amazigh New Year is of great importance in that it aims to safeguard the Amazigh intangible cultural heritage.
It coincides with January 13 of each year and symbolizes the first day of the agricultural calendar.
