Agadir: Mohammed VI Foundation pays tribute to female and former female prisoners

This ceremony, organized as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, was held in the presence of the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, governor of the Agadir Ida-Outanane province, the general coordinator of the services of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners and representatives of the judiciary, indicates a press release from the Foundation.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, and in recognition of the successful efforts made by women from all sectors and institutions active in the field of prisoner reintegration, the Foundation paid tribute to pioneering women, to prisoners in prisons or child protection centers, as well as to those who have been released, the same source said.

Organized at the headquarters of the wilaya of the Souss-Massa region, this ceremony was marked by the distribution by the Foundation, in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development (MAP), of income-generating projects, with a budget of 40,000 DH each, for the benefit of former inmates of penitentiary establishments in the Souss-Massa region, the aim being to promote their reintegration into the national economic fabric.

A vibrant tribute was also paid to pioneering women in the region who distinguished themselves in the area of ​​post-prison assistance at the level of all departments and institutions linked to reintegration.

These are women active in particular in the General Delegation of Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), the Ministries of Justice, Youth, Culture and Communication and Health and Social Protection, the judiciary, the presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Bar Association near the district of the Agadir Court of Appeal.

These women are also active at the level of the General Directorate of National Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Rabita Mohammedia of Ulemas, the Office of Vocational Training and the Promotion of Work, the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills, the National Initiative for Human Development, the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners and associations.

In addition, two medical campaigns were organized for the benefit of female prisoners in the local prison of Ait Melloul 2 and those in the Child Protection Center. The beneficiaries of these campaigns also received good quality blankets and warm clothes.

The press release emphasizes that this initiative comes within the framework of the Foundation’s contribution to strengthening social protection for this category, as well as the feeling of dignity among them.

It also aims to promote their reintegration and maintain their links with the social fabric and its noble values, in accordance with the noble objectives of the Foundation and in harmony with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
