DGP Shailendrababu has ordered the transfer of Ambasamutram A.S.P. Balveersingh to the waiting list. Balveersingh, who has held the position of SP since August last year, has been accused of torturing people during interrogation by pulling out their teeth with a wrench. He is a 2020 IPS officer from Haryana.
Balveersingh’s controversial methods of interrogation included pulling teeth and chewing pebbles while interrogating those arrested for minor offenses. In one incident, Surya, a resident of Ayansinghampatti, had his teeth pulled out by the police after he broke and damaged surveillance cameras in a drunken state.
More than 14 people were subjected to Balveersingh’s method of interrogation, which drew criticism for not only targeting criminals but also individuals involved in family disputes.
Following an investigation by Cheranmagadevi Sub Collector Mohammad Alam Sabir, DGP Shailendrababu ordered Balveersingh’s transfer to the waiting list. Venkatesan has since been appointed as the new DSP of Ambasamudram on a temporary basis.
He was accused of pulling out teeth with a wrench and then chewing pebbles in his mouth while interrogating those arrested for petty crimes.

Based on the complaint, Cheranmagadevi Sub Collector Mohammad Alam Sabir was ordered to investigate the incident.
As a result, DGP Shailendrababu ordered ASP Balveersingh to be transferred to the waiting list to head the police in Chennai. Venkatesan has been temporarily appointed as the new DSP, Ambasamudram.
