INTERVIEW – The aging of the population in France makes necessary a series of measures to better finance and support dependency, believes Bruno Angles, general manager of AG2R La Mondiale.

The boss of the insurance group dedicated to social and heritage protection gives his ideas for France to adapt to the demographic shock that awaits it, with the extension of the lifespan enjoyed by baby boomers.

LE FIGARO. – Does the pension reform settle the subject of financing?

Bruno ANGLES. – The pay-as-you-go pension system was introduced just after the war, when life expectancy was 65. She is now over 80 years old. It seems impossible not to change anything. The government recognizes it: this reform is not the “der of the ders”. We must prepare to live with four generations – against three previously – two of which may be retired simultaneously. It is the arithmetic consequence of the lengthening of the duration of life. Yesterday’s baby boomers are today’s grandpa boomers.
