Cuzco: In Peru, the uprising after the ouster of President Pedro Castillo is spreading. The protestors demand that Pedro Castillo, who was taken into custody, be released and Dina Boluvert, who was in charge, should resign and face elections. Meanwhile, the parliament passed a bill that allows the election to be postponed for more than two years. Thousands of tourists are stranded as the country’s major airports are closed.

Rail service has also been suspended in Machupicchu since last Tuesday. More than 5,000 tourists were stranded in the city of Cusco alone. There are plans to transport tourists by military helicopter. Foreign tourists can be seen walking along the railway tracks. The problems started when Pedro Castillo was impeached by Parliament. The President responded by dissolving Parliament and declaring a state of emergency. Pedro was then arrested by the police after parliament declared the president out of office. His followers started protesting with this. Dina Boluvert has declared a one-month state of emergency in the country. It is reported that 20 people were killed and 518 people, including 268 policemen, were injured in the conflict. According to human rights organizations, 147 people were detained.
