What you should know : “A safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work”. This is the theme chosen this year as part of the celebration of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work. To this end, LGA Benin has launched its “0 accident plan”. The objective is to move towards the gradual elimination of all accidents related to its activities worldwide. To do this, its employees and those of Benin Terminal benefited from a prevention session on prostate diseases. Led by Dr. Athanase Sodjiedo, company doctor at AGL Benin and Benin Terminal, this session allowed staff to understand the different aspects and symptoms of these diseases, in order to be able to quickly identify them and treat them appropriately. In line with this celebration, an awareness-raising session and interactive debates, organized in collaboration with the National Road Safety Center (CNSR), brought together transporters and drivers in the multipurpose room of the Zongo Bluezone. It was moderated by Mr Koovy Métchédé Yete, Head of Road User Behavior Regulation Department. The communicator returned to the prevention of risks inherent in transport activities, and to the means of preventing travel accidents on the various corridors. Following this activity, nearly 400 people (employees, service providers, partners and users) took part in the information and awareness campaign on hepatitis B on the esplanade of the Direction d’Exploitation de Bénin Terminal in the enclosure of the Port of Cotonou.

What do LGA Benin officials think? : Through these activities, AGL Benin strives to raise awareness and empower each of its employees, in order to guarantee a safe and healthy working environment for all. “The World Day for Health and Safety at Work is an opportunity to remind our staff and subcontractors of our health and safety policy in order to take stock of our strategy. Our company cannot experience growth without taking care of these two human-oriented aspects – health and safety. Because workplace safety is the number one priority at our facilities, at AGL Benin and at Benin Terminal,” said Venance GNIGLA, Executive Chairman of AGL Benin. He let it be known that they are deploying great means to reduce the risks in order to reach the zero accident objective. “I urge all staff, service providers and subcontractors to make safety and health at work a constant concern, both individually and collectively. “, invited Venance GNIGLA.
