Agnès Buzyn, the former Minister of Health, has been appointed to the Court of Auditors

Former health minister Agnès Buzyn has been appointed master adviser to the Court of Auditors, the Elysée announced on Friday July 29.

“Agnès Buzyn, former minister, university professor-hospital practitioner, is appointed master adviser in extraordinary service at the Court of Auditors, as of 1^is September 2022 »announced the Presidency of the Republic in the report of the Council of Ministers.

Promoted Knight of the Legion of Honor

M^me Buzyn, a hematologist by profession, had notably directed the National Cancer Institute, before being appointed in 2017 Minister of Health after the election of Mr. Macron. His time at the ministry was marked by a social movement in hospitals as well as by a controversy over the end of reimbursement of homeopathy by Medicare, a measure in favor of which Mr.^me Buzyn weighed.

She left the ministry at the start of 2020, as the Covid-19 took hold in France, to run for mayor of Paris, replacing the previous majority candidate, Benjamin Griveaux, at the last moment. She was finally defeated by the previous and current mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.

The former minister, who later headed the Academy of the World Health Organization (WHO), was indicted at the end of 2021 for “endangering the lives of others” in her management of the epidemic, a decision criticized by part of the political world, which fears an excessive judicialization of public action. In January 2022, she was promoted to Knight of the Legion of Honor.
