A team of three specialists in applied mathematics and an expert in transport engineering and infrastructure, belonging to the Higher Polytechnic School of Engineering of the Lugo Campus of the Compostela University, where the Degree in Civil Engineering is taught, have been working for several years on an optimization tool for the design of linear transport works, mainly roads and railway lines that incorporates Artificial Intelligence algorithms for the design of linear transport works, mainly roads and lines. railway.

The agreement with Ineco will allow the project team to take a qualitative leap in the evolution of the tool, improving the current module for rectifying alignments, with direct application in projects for the conditioning of railway lines.
The collaboration will allow progress in the development of the module to make it much more efficient and practical, for which an executable program will be implemented to efficiently evaluate its potentiality and applicability.

iCampus

This is the first agreement within the framework of Ineco’s new iCampus programme, a network that promotes collaboration with universities to promote scientific-technical research, knowledge transfer and interaction between experts from the scientific, technical and business community.
For the selection of the Universities, the company has analyzed the potential of centers in strategic fields to co-innovate in the most disruptive technologies that allow new business models to be opened.
In addition to the collaboration with the University of Santiago, Ineco has an agreement with other universities such as the University of Cantabria to characterize the resilience of materials applied to railway infrastructure.
The objective is to continue expanding the network to other centers to advance in areas such as port noise, light pollution, cybersecurity application, etc.
